How to create your own AI Themes

Create the content themes you care about

Written by Diana Gogolan

Socialinsider suggests AI themes for your profiles automatically. Sometimes, though, you want to track a theme of your own, like a campaign, a product line or a topic your team reports on.

With AI themes, you don't need keywords or rules. You describe the theme in plain language, and the AI tags the matching posts on the profiles you choose, based on what the posts are about.

You'll find everything in Content Pillars → AI Themes. The page has two lists:

  • AI themes shows the themes you track, both suggested themes you've tracked and the ones you created.

  • Suggested themes shows themes the AI found in your posts that you haven't tracked yet.

How to create a new AI theme

  1. Go to Content Pillars → AI Themes.

  2. Click New AI Theme in the top right corner.

3. Enter a Name for your theme, for example 'Studio Sessions'

4. Write a Description of what posts in this theme are about, in up to 400 characters. This is what the AI uses to find matching posts, so it matters most. See the tips below.

Based on my example, the description would be:

Posts showing the band recording or writing new music, like studio clips, demos, rehearsals and behind-the-scenes photos. Not finished release announcements, tour dates or live show footage.

5. Under Profiles, select the profiles the theme should apply to.

6. Click Save.

After you save, it may take a few minutes for posts to be tagged with your theme.

Your new theme then appears in the AI themes list and in the Overview.

How to write a good description

The AI sorts posts by meaning, not by keywords, using your description. The clearer the description, the better the matches. Four tips help:

Tip

Why it helps

Example

Say what it's about

Gives the AI a clear topic to look for

Posts announcing new music, like singles, albums and music videos

Say what to leave out

Keeps similar but unrelated posts out of the theme

Not tour dates or merch drops

Name examples

Points the AI to specific events, series or formats

Like album teasers, release-day posts and music video premieres

Keep it to one idea

Makes results easier to read and compare

Split "tours and merch" into two themes

Putting it together

A strong description often combines the first three tips in one or two sentences:

Posts celebrating fans, like fan art reposts, crowd shots, fan covers and thank-you messages after a show. Not ticket or merch promotions.

💡 Tip: If a theme catches posts it shouldn't, edit the description and add what to leave out. For example, if a New Releases theme also picks up tour posters, add "Not tour announcements" to its description.

How to manage your AI themes

The AI themes list shows each theme's name, what belongs in it, which profiles it applies to and its status. From there you can:

  • Search your themes with the search box above the list.

  • Click View analytics to see how a theme performs and which posts belong to it.

  • Click the pen icon to edit a theme's name, description or profiles. As with a new theme, it may take a few minutes for posts to be re-tagged.

  • Click the bin icon to delete a theme.

Track a suggested theme

Below your themes, the Suggested themes list shows themes the AI found in your posts. Each one shows what belongs in it and which profile it was found on.

To start following a suggestion, click Track. It moves to your AI themes list and posts start being tagged with it. You can search suggestions too, which helps when you have many profiles.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between an AI theme and a Query Builder pillar?

Query Builder tags posts using rules, like keywords or hashtags. An AI theme tags posts based on what they're about, using your description, so it also catches posts that never use a specific word.

Why don't I see any posts in my new theme yet?

It can take a few minutes for posts to be tagged after you save. If the theme still has no posts after that, try a broader description or check that you selected the right profiles.

Does the name affect which posts are matched?

The AI matches posts using your description. The name is how the theme appears across Socialinsider, so pick one your team will recognize.

Can a post belong to more than one theme?

Yes. A post can be part of several themes at once.
